A delicious, mildly sweet, zero caffeine Halloween treat!
It’s a little rediculus that I’m sitting down at 11:53 at night, with a sweet Halloween treat called “Butterscotch Chai”, with zero concern about reprocussions on my sleep. Such is the wonderful world of tea I suppose!
I believe I ordered this before David’s put up their 2020 Halloween collection, but it is a part of their Halloween collection.
Most of the time when new teas arrive, I rip all the new ones open and give them a smell, but I didn’t do that with my last order for some reason, so I was smelling this for the first time when I opened it to brew it. It smells incredible – it smells like butterscotch.
While I would expect a tea like this to have artificial flavouring in it, amazingly, this does not.
It does have ginger for anyone averse to that – though I can’t taste it at all – and it has stevia too, so if that’s not your jam, this may not be for you.
This ia a 95 degree for 4-5 minute rooibos, so as always I gave it four minutes for the first steep, and will give it five for the second.
After steeping the smell changes quite a bit. I can’t quite put my finger on what I’m smelling, it almost smells a little spicy.
The taste is incredible. Halloween treat is quite apt. The initial taste is quite nice – very mild, a little sweet, just a nice, mellow, yum. The aftertaste is all butterscotch … wow … it’s actually quite remarkable how spot on that is. I could imagine this being REALLY nice on a cold winter evening.
I’m sure this would mix well with many, many, many things – but it is absolutely delicious by itself, so I’m in no rush to do that.
I think I’m going to go add some more of this to my cart for my next order, right now!
Until next time, happy steeping!
