I have had a lot of peppermint tea in the last 10 years or so. It is my go to whenever I am out. You would think, if it was all just peppermint, it would all taste the same, but it sure does not.

This tea, is absolutely perfect, peppermint tea. Pure, peppermint tea. The ingredients are simply “Organic peppermint leaves from Oregon and Washington State.” It has me wondering what was in all those other peppermint teas I’ve had.

Pure, Perfect, Peppermint

I got 100g of this in my first order as I knew I’d at least like it. A really wonderful thing about this tea is it’s not very dense – 100g fills one of the old BIG David’s Tea tins to the top. As you use 1-2 “perfect spoonfuls” like you do for most of their loose leaf tea, that means you can brew a LOT of tea with a very small order of this.

I loved it so much I think I almost immediately went to the site and put 500g of it into my cart for when I placed my next order. Sadly, it was out of stock when I placed my next order. I thought it was gone, as they do rotate teas a lot. Some time later I was browsing the site and saw it was back in stock, so I figured it being out of stock was just a one time thing, and I added it to my cart for when I placed my next order, and again, it was out of stock when I went to place my next order. While checking the site just now to pull the ingredients wording for this article, I saw it was back in stock! I ordered 500g immediately.

When I first got this and opened the bag and gave it a whiff, I was immediately flooded with memories of childhood Christmases at my grandparents house. My grandmother always had After Eight and I absolutely loved them.

It tastes exactly how I’d expect – perfect peppermint. That’s really all there is to say about it. Being that it literally is just peppermint leaves, I’ve even thought of sprinkling a little on plain vanilla ice cream.

As far as I understand, peppermint tea has been brewed and consumed for thousands of years, some of the reported benefits include –

  • Makes you Stress Free
  • Sleep-Friendly
  • Aids in Weight Loss
  • Cure for an Upset Stomach
  • Improves Digestion
  • Boosts Immune System
  • Fights Bad Breath

So it’s a staple in my collection for sure, and one I’d like to always have in my cupboard.

With After Eight in mind the first couple times I had it, I mixed it with Chocuador the very first time I mixed teas, and made basically the best tasting liquid I’ve ever consumed. It was quite a while ago now that I did that, but if I recall, the Chocuador is a 5 minute steep, and the Peppermint Amour is a 0.5-1, so I think I steeped them for 2.5 minutes and it was incredible. The second brew was not as good though.

I’ll have to try that one again soon to see if I can reproduce it and then write about it!

Until next time, happy steeping!
